World’s first smartphone with a 360-degree camera goes on sale in China

Chinese technology company Protruly, introduced the world’s first smartphone to capture full 360 degree images by its wide-angle twin lens.

The “Protruly Darling VR smartphone” comes with two 13-megapixel lenses that allow the user to take dimensional panoramic images. The phone can stitch these images in just 0.002 seconds, to allow real-time viewing, the company claims.

In addition, the smartphone has rear (13-megapixel) and front (8-megapixel) cameras to capture flat images in a ‘traditional’ way.

Other technical features include a 5.5 inch AMOLED Full HD display with a resolution of 1080 pixels, 4 GB RAM, 2.5 GHz MediaTek Helio X20 processor, 3560 mAh battery and USB Type-C connection.

China Daily reports ‘the smartphone is also able to remotely detect the human body temperature without touching, and provide a cloud platform to store the settings data locally and remotely.’

“Protruly Darling VR smartphone” comes in two versions as Elite and Extreme Edition.

The diamond and gold encrusted Extreme Edition is the luxury model costs 8,800 yuan (1,300 USD) and has an additional fingerprint reader. The flagship version (Elite) costs 3,980 yuan (590 USD).

Both models went on sale starting this week in China.
