According to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, virtual reality will be the main social media platform in 5 to 10 years.

During a town hall Q&A session in Rome on Monday, Zuckerberg met with the Italian Facebook community and answered questions from the audience.

Regarding a question about the recent success of Pokemon Go and Facebook’s plans with the Oculus Rift, Zuckerberg said “Virtual reality and augmented reality are going to be the most social platform that has ever existed.”

Zuckerberg added that technology changes in constant time waves and the next wave will be virtual and augmented reality.

“If you think about the history of computing, every 10 or 15 years a new big computing platform comes along. We had desktop computers, browsers, the internet. Now we have mobile phones. Each one was better than before and it’s great. But what we have now is not the end of the line.”

Zuckerberg’s Q&A town hall meeting session was part of a recent trip to Italy. Mark Zuckerberg met both Pope Francis and the Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi. He also attended the wedding of Spotify CEO Daniel Ek.

The Q&A session was broadcasted live on Facebook. You can watch the full record of the session here.
